Setup Eclipse with Android ADT Plugin for test/code environment (by using Android API Level 7 and Emulator).
P.S- Above page is having around 14 images, download size could be around 700KB.

This Page and/or example code is using Android API Level 7 and tested using corresponding Emulator only.
For latest information please refer Android Official website.

Using Android API Level : 7
In this example we shall see a very simple ways to work with
Intents those are being Broadcast and receiver receives these.

In this example, there are two different applications with two different
activities interacting with one another using custom Intent defined.

"ExampleIntentBroadcaster" and "ExampleIntentReceiver" are those two
different applications.
"ExampleIntentBroadcaster" has a button and on click of this button
an intent is being created and broadcast.
ExampleIntentBroadcaster.java
package com.techienjoy.example;

import android.app.Activity;
import android.content.BroadcastReceiver;
import android.content.Context;
import android.content.Intent;
import android.os.Bundle;
import android.view.View;
import android.view.View.OnClickListener;
import android.widget.Button;

public class ExampleIntentBroadcaster extends Activity {
    /** Called when the activity is first created. */
    @Override
    public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
        super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
        setContentView(R.layout.main);
        Button button = (Button) findViewById(R.id.button);
        button.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() {

            @Override
            public void onClick(View v) {
                Intent intent = new Intent("com.techienjoy.action.HelloFriend");
                intent.putExtra("name", "Guddu");
                sendBroadcast(intent);

            }
        });
    }
    class IntentReceiver extends BroadcastReceiver {

        @Override
        public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) {
            System.out.println("got it");

        }

    }
}
"ExampleIntentReceiver" has the configuration set for the intent receiver
part of it.
AndroidManifest.xml
<receiver android:name=".IntentBroadcastReceiver">
  <intent-filter>
    <action android:name="com.techienjoy.action.HelloFriend"/>
  </intent-filter>
</receiver>
"ExampleIntentReceiver" has the package as "com.textienjoy.example.intent.receiver"
so a class such as "com.textienjoy.example.intent.receiver.IntentBroadcastReceiver"
is the intent broadcast receiver is being code as follows:
IntentBroadcastReceiver.java
package com.textienjoy.example.intent.receiver;

import android.content.BroadcastReceiver;
import android.content.Context;
import android.content.Intent;

public class IntentBroadcastReceiver extends BroadcastReceiver {
    @Override
    public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) {
            String actionName = intent.getAction();
        if(actionName != null && actionName.equals("com.techienjoy.action.HelloFriend")) {
            String nameStr = intent.getStringExtra("name");

            System.out.println("Welcome : "+nameStr);
        }
    }
}
This class is in the other application. This class does nothing as of now, just prints out
the text on log console with the intent data that is passed to it as putExtra.
